Expected to hit dealer showrooms and lots by the end of 2026, the zero-emission family hauler is presently undergoing its final winter tests. Our carparazzi have managed to get a few good shots of the heavily anticipated Peaq, and in a similar fashion to the Volkswagen brand's ID. Buzz, the Skoda equivalent looks massive.
Just around 5 meters in length, the Peaq is gifted with a massive wheelbase as well, estimated to measure over 3 meters. Based on the rear-biased platform of the ID. Buzz, this fellow didn't follow in the nostalgia-driven footsteps of its nearest Volkswagen Group sibling. Instead of taking inspiration from the Czech marque's past, Skoda designers have committed wholeheartedly to the Modern Solid design language.
The Vision 7S concept from August 2022 previewed this design language, and since then, Skoda has treated a great deal of electric models to Modern Solid cues. The Elroq comes to mind, and the B-segment Epiq is also getting its fair share of Modern Solid motifs. From the Tech-Deck face to the T-shaped lighting signature and the SKODA wordmark in bold letters, there is a lot to like about the latest stylistic direction.
Rather unsurprisingly for a future vehicle that will push Skoda upmarket, the Peaq is cold-weather testing near the Arctic Circle with camouflage stickers over its most important bits. A gaping air intake can be seen at the very bottom of the front bumper. Camouflage wrap masterfully hides the C- and D-pillars of the Peaq, though it's easy to see that Skoda went for rear quarter windows reminiscent of the Vision 7S concept.
Competing against the likes of the Volvo EX90, the Hyundai Ioniq 9, and the Kia EV9, the 2027 Skoda Peaq is equipped with rear drum brakes. All models based on the MEB feature drums out back, which is a bit cheapo when you remember that the forthcoming MEB+ platform is rocking rear disc brakes. Adding insult to injury, both the rear-drive MEB and MEB+ architectures are 400-volt affairs.
While pictures of its cabin are not available yet, the Peaq's dashboard shouldn't differ too much from the Elroq and Enyaq twins. On the other hand, the rear-hinged back doors of the Vision 7S concept have been replaced by conventional units.
When it comes to powertrain choices, prospective customers will be presented with both rear-drive and twin-motor options. At least two battery packs are presumably in the offing as well. Due to its longer wheelbase, the Peaq may be offered with a juicier battery than what Skoda offers in the Enyaq.
Skoda may further make a case for an RS performance version. Just like the Enyaq RS, which is called Enyaq vRS in the United Kingdom, the Volkswagen Group's APP550 electric drive unit will do the heavy lifting under hard acceleration.
