Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has revealed a completely redesigned version of its P7 sedan, showcasing a striking new design language intended to lead the brand's global charge. This new model aims to blend art, athleticism, and advanced technology, according to the automaker, signaling a fresh direction and a possible international rival for the Tesla Model 3.

A Four-Door EV Sexy Enough To Make Porsche Blush
The new P7, crafted by French designer Rafik Ferrag, boasts long, graceful lines and a sleek, coupe-like silhouette. Its minimalist exterior lighting is a key feature, with distinctive Y-shaped daytime running lights neatly integrated into the front trim work where the hood meets the fascia. A similar aesthetic is applied to the taillamps, contributing to a clean and contemporary look that culminates in a curt rear end, accented by a retractable spoiler. Xpeng CEO Xiaopeng He described the design process as an "emotionally charged project," resulting in "a sleek, tech-forward luxury sports sedan that's not just about looks - it's about leading the next wave."

To us, it looks like the lovechild of a Nissan GT-R (from the A-pillar forward) and a Jaguar F-Type (the rear profile) with an extra pair of doors squeezed in.

The original P7, one of Xpeng’s initial offerings introduced in 2019, went through several iterations before being phased out. This new P7 is distinct from the recently introduced, more family-focused P7+ and will serve as Xpeng's range-topping sporty sedan.

Xpeng has been clear that this new P7 is destined for global markets, continuing its own take on manifest destiny. While a United States launch is unlikely due to current tariffs and geopolitical tensions, the company recently entered the UK market with its G6 SUV.

Full mechanical details for the new P7 are still forthcoming, but it is expected to feature Xpeng’s camera-based advanced driver assistance systems. There is speculation it might debut on Xpeng’s new Kunpeng EV platform, which could offer future versatility, including potential range-extender options. However, the initial launch is anticipated to be purely electric. Performance could be impressive, with potential for up to 466 horsepower from dual motors and a range exceeding 435 miles on the generous China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), similar to or surpassing the P7+. Spy shots of the interior suggest a large central infotainment screen will be a centerpiece.

The new Xpeng P7 is slated to go on sale in China starting this August. A public unveiling could take place at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November. Initial reports indicate a starting price in China of around 300,000 CNY, which comes out to approximately USD 42,000. Some Chinese outlets have also reported that the company has secured the "P7 Ultra" name, hinting it could possibly be slotted in as a flagship model.

As Xpeng continues to push into new international territories, this sharply styled P7, packed with technology and offered at a competitive price point, could be a key vehicle in its efforts to gain traction against established and emerging EV players worldwide.
