To be revealed in 2026 for model year 2027, the very first series-production Bentley to run exclusively on electrons made its spy photo debut. Pictured winter testing in Sweden, the United Kingdom-plated mule wears camo and Porsche Cayenne Electric overalls because it's a twin of the forthcoming German model.

The lights, greenhouse, and overall proportions are similar, which may confuse a few peeps. On the other hand, this fellow is listed as being a Bentley rather than a Porsche on the DVLA's website. First registered in July 2024, the all-black SUV is listed with 0 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer.

Now that we've settled the Porsche-or-Bentley matter, this mule does have a few common traits with the design sketch published by the British automaker in November 2024. From the downward-sloping hood to the conservative rake of the windshield and the upward kink in the rear quarter windows, a lot of stuff matches between this vehicle and the design sketch.

But don't be fooled by these similarities because Crewe will use specific bodywork for its electric sport utility vehicle. Obviously, the interior will differ greatly as well. Being a Bentley, the yet-unnamed model is certain to ship with dual-motor AWD from the outset.

Luxury Urban SUV is what Bentley calls the newcomer, a placeholder name that will have to suffice until the real thing debuts in 2026. The Crewe-based manufacturer also stated that its upcoming electric utility vehicle is designed, developed, and made in Crewe.

If you're worried about the Bentayga, fret not because there is no chance the internal combustion engine will go away in the near future. As per a press release published by Porsche in July 2024, combustion engines will be offered in the Cayenne beyond 2030.

As the Cayenne shares its MLB Evo architecture with the Bentayga, we are nigh-on certain that Bentley will continue offering twin-turbo V8 powerplants in their best-selling model. Although restricted availability of the 4.0-liter TFSI twin-turbo V8 and the discontinuation of the 6.0-liter TFSI twin-turbo W12 had negative effects in terms of sales, Bentley moved 10,600 in 2024, of which the Bentayga did the heavy lifting.

Turning our attention back to the first series-production EV in Bentley's long and illustrious history, the Luxury Urban SUV uses the Premium Platform Electric of the Cayenne Electric. Said 800-volt architecture is presently used by the Macan Electric and two Audis, namely the Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron, along with their long-wheelbase counterparts that are exclusive to China.

Described as more compact than the Bentayga, the much-anticipated EV should measure under 196.8 feet or 5.0 meters. By comparison, the Macan Electric spans 188.3 inches or 4,784 millimeters between the front and rear bumpers. Over at Bentley, the overall length of the regular-wheelbase Bentayga is listed as 201.8 inches or 5,125 millimeters.

The Macan Turbo Electric is the most powerful battery-electric vehicle based on the Premium Platform Electric to date, packing up to 630 horses with overboost and launch control as opposed to 509 mechanical horsepower for the SQ6 e-tron. Given these numbers, look forward to a bit more than 630 zero-emission ponies from the Bentley.
